As a global food company, ASR Group recognizes the importance of sustainability. At our core, our enterprise relies on a healthy eco-system, that awareness steers the decisions we make. Beginning with the sugar cane planted on our farms to the products delivered to our customers, our business depends on reliable supplies. of water and productive soils.

SUSTAINABILITY TARGETS

We are seriously committed to running a sustainable business. To date we have achieved some impressive results:

  • Our robust water-reduction program has seen a decrease in our usage across the entire production process.
  • Our waste-reduction program in FY2013 yielded an impressive 9% decrease of total waste disposed from packaging, general plant, office and food waste streams.
  • Our goal to reduce our refineries’ natural gas and fuel oil consumption per CWT by 10%, as part of our five-year (2007-2012) program was surpassed at end FY2012 by an average of 12%.
  • Our initial goal of using 25% renewable energy by 2020 has already been exceeded by 20%, thanks largely to ASR Group’s biomass facilities.
  • Our ASR Group Code of Ethics and Business Conduct upholds high ethical values in every aspect of employees jobs.

We have also set some ambitious and long-term sustainability targets to ensure our accountability and dedication to best practice. Our pledge is to:

  • Generate zero waste to landfill by 2020.
  • Reduce total energy use by 30% by 2030.
  • Increase the use of renewable energy by 25% by 2020.
  • Reduce water usage per product by 40% by 2020.
  • Decrease our GHG Emissions per product by 15% by 2020.
  • Implement our sustainability philosophy as part of ASR Group culture -- through business strategy and the way employees manage their work.
